Unemployment and Reemployment


When workers become unemployed due to bad results from drug screening or something like alcohol testing they are put in a bad Alcohol Testingposition. Sometimes, companies request their employees to put in for a leave of absence while they go and get cleaned up, and sometimes workers are requested to turn in a resignation. That is a much softer way to go when getting rid of an unwanted employee. That way, the individual is not fired, but they are not recommended, either. Anyone who could lie well and put up a really good front could weasel their way into a company, and many people understand that addicts can be quite talented at lying, whether or not they keep up the front after becoming employed.

After hiring someone who has shown addiction to or at least abuse of illicit substances at the workplace, they should not be tested with any more frequency than other employees, unless of course they show up to work and seem obviously drunk. Treating your employees with equal favor concerning alcohol and drug testing shows them that their behavior determines their success, not your preference for any one of them. That really helps when it comes to remaining an impartial observer of your jobsite’s activities. Your workers must see that you value what they put into the company, not efforts put into you individually. Onsite drug and alcohol screening can really be your way in to the big leagues when you are dealing with a lot of employees.
