Tenacity is the ability to stick with something or someone until the process or the intended result is completed, no matter what. Tenacity disregards things like inconvenience, weakness, personal dissatisfaction. It keeps going and going and going until the desired result is accomplished, and it doesn’t believe in giving up when things get really, really tough or when things seem to all be going downhill.
Tenacity is part of being an adult and any child who has this trait will be one of the more successful adults on this earth. It is one of the most valuable traits to have and it begins with not giving up on yourself or on the circumstances you have temporarily created for yourself and by deciding and continuing to decide to succeed, no matter what.
Unfortunately, some things negate this effect. Tenacity shows up in things like healthy, loving families where everyone’s love language is being fed and everyone’s internal desires are being regularly exercised. However, things like alcoholism and drug abuse take tenacity away. They cease making you use your internal muscles, your emotional muscles, and so therefore you get to where you can handle life itself less and less. And then you don’t know why you used to be able to do something, but now you can’t anymore. The muscles have become weaker through lack of exercise.
Make sure your employees are using their own emotional muscles when they are at work. Make sure by screening them for drug abuse or alcohol abuse in the workplace.
